The smallest yet most expressively designed of all Volvos, the C30's interior is equally
stylish with Volvo's unique, ultra-slim centre stack, individual seats for four adults and
the deep, distinctive glass tailgate for easy loading. We caught up with Volvo's Studio
Chief Designer and creator:
- What would you say is the most challenging thing about designing cars today?

All the new technical and legal requirements involved in a new car project can be almost
overwhelming sometimes. That’s when creativity has to kick in!
- What inspired you when designing the C30?
-
People (our targeted customers), cars, fashion and most of all, the fact that we were
working outside of the Volvo "comfort zone" (ie: big family cars) to create a car not
aimed at people with kids. Going against the current is always full of surprises and
very stimulating.
- What advice would you recommend to young people who want to become car designers?
-
Don't give up, don't expect it to make much sense, dare to be a little crazy, and most
of all, be passionate! Design is all about emotions.
