Travel during off peak hours, that way you spend less time in traffic! have stuff for children to do (games, DVD) and plan toilet stops!

For long distance travel in the early hours leaving the kids in their pyjamas and asleep so that when they wake up you are nearly there.

Get family members to go too, in their car and then insist the kids love them sooo much that they should travel with them, in their car :)
