I spy! One of the oldest most entertaining games ever. Even with colours (I spy something that is green...) when the kids were small.

let them help preplan the trip using junctions and landmarks, use this on route and you can ask them 'are we there yet?'

play games, such as hunt the yellow car to keep them amused. Pack healthy snakcs such as raisins and stop every hour or two for a pit stop!

Set off early ,have some quizzes or 'see how many......you can see whilst we are travelling'. Take a few non sugary snacks

Enertain them. I find wipe clean cards from Usborne "Things to do on a journey" are excellent.

If you are going on a long trip set off at their bedtime and they will more than likely sleep the whole journey. Lots of snacks help too!

Start out early so they fall asleep for part of the journey and make plenty of stops along the way.
