If they are entertained, fed and watered they are happy - it isn't rocket science! (Wearing them out does help though).

Bring lots of books, colouring, and games! Keeps them quiet so they won't be a pain!

break the journey up with a treat at the midway point (such as a visit to a museum or cinema)

Definitely have a dvd player ready as back up. My 4 year old loves having headphones on so no one else can hear it!

Always have enough drinking water along, and pass time car games for longer trips.Everyones should be comfortable whenever in the car.

have drinks and sweets handy (but not too many ) put a little selection of nibbles in a sandwich box and say your having a travelling picnic

Start out early so they fall asleep for part of the journey and make plenty of stops along the way.
