Get an I-Spy book on identifying cars by registration numbers - kids love looking out for cars from interesting places and ticking them off!

Put old footage of them onto DVD and let them play them constantly. They are fascinated watching themselves and never tire of it.

Be prepared allow an extra half hour favourite toy regular breaks and little surprises. A spare set of clothes change the kids on arrival.

Use strong velcro on babies/toddlerstoys so if they throw them out of the seat the toys are still attached-baby can reach them No stopping.

Make it fun! Sing, play games and chat about anything and everything and have plenty of drinks and snacks.

Work long trips around their sleeping habits, dress comfortably, plenty of games/dvd, snacks and stops for them to letting off steam.

Make up an I-spy game. Examples: Canal, River, Airport, towns/villages that you will be travelling near. The options to be used are endless.

Start out early so they fall asleep for part of the journey and make plenty of stops along the way.
