always pack enough for an apocalypse! Extra games, toys, food, drink, music, DVD's.... keeping them happy and quiet is a life saver

make sure they have breakfast or lunch before you leave for your journey so one they dont get food all over the place and they sleep

Start out early so they fall asleep for part of the journey and make plenty of stops along the way.
